ABGH Rising
Mentorship Program

The ABGH Rising Mentorship Program is a national initiative of the Association of Black Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists (ABGH) designed to promote health equity by advancing the representation of Black physicians and scientists in gastroenterology and hepatology.
By offering mentorship, education, and professional development opportunities, ABGH Rising supports a stronger pipeline of Black talent into high-level medical professions, with the long-term goal of improving access and outcomes in historically underserved communities.
ABGH Rising is an equity-driven solution to a systemic gap in medicine.
By investing in mentorship, education, and culturally responsive support, we can grow the number of Black physicians and scientists in gastroenterology and hepatology, improving not just representation but the quality and equity of care delivered nationwide.

The Rising Mentorship Program also provides travel award support to help members attend conferences, convenings, and ABGH-sponsored events.
These awards are designed to reduce financial barriers to participation, strengthen mentorship and professional development opportunities, and expand access to spaces that foster learning, networking, leadership, and community within gastroenterology and hepatology.
